John P. Parker School

Architect: Voorhis, Slone, Welsh, Crossland Architects

Front View

The front view of John P. Parker School.
The feature above the new Parker's main entrance brings to mind an open book, a tribute to the school's namesake, John P. Parker, a freed slave dedicated to encouraging reading and education for all.
West View

The front view of John P. Parker School.
The new design offers a mix of sloped and flat roofs, and red and tan bricks to match the Tudor-style homes surrounding it. A separate bus loop off Chandler Street will help avoid traffic jams. The current building, located in what will be the new parking lots, will be demolished after students move into the new building.
South View

The front view of John P. Parker School.
The new Parker, sitting atop a broad hill, will present its attractive "second front" to the busy intersection of Red Bank and Madison roads. Its Media Center will look out over the hillside.
