Customer Service


Great customer service is no mystery. As consumers, we all recognize when we receive exceptional service — and how we feel and act in response. When people go out of their way to make us feel welcome, meet a special request or work through a problem with a smile and positive attitude, we become more invested as customers.

All visitors are provided with identification badges at the Education Center.

As a public school district, we have a special obligation to provide excellent service to our customers. The more friendly and responsive we are to serving the needs of our families, community partners and visitors, the more invested they become in the academic success of our children. Their satisfaction — and loyalty — rises.

Even our students are picking up on what good customer service means. For example, Betty Hodson, president of the Association of Cincinnati Public Schools Office Personnel (ACPSOP), shared her experience from a visit to Withrow University High School. She was in the parking lot and asked a student for directions to the office. The student, who was leaving school with his mother, very respectfully asked his mother to wait for him and offered to escort Hodson to the office.

"Talk about customer service!," Hodson said. "Not only was (the student) polite as he walked me to the office, he spoke highly of the school and the good things that are happening for kids at Withrow University. If this young man illustrates the type of student attending Withrow University, then the Withrow staff and administration are to be commended for setting such a positive environment for our children and families."

In Cincinnati Public Schools, representatives of employee groups joined in a commitment to “raise the bar on customer service” throughout our schools and central offices. Working together, they developed a customer service pledge and protocols for all employees to follow. To complement this effort, posters, welcome signs and a customer service survey were developed.
