The Cincinnati Police Department and Cincinnati Public Schools held the citys first annual Step Up and Stop It District Four Police Anti-Bullying Art and Creative Writing Contest, designed to broaden students awareness of the harm caused by bullying and to encourage them to take a leadership role in stopping it.

Taft Information Technology High School is the first high school in Ohio to achieve the LEED Platinum certification for its new environmentally friendly building, which opened Spring 2011 in the West End. Platinum is the highest level of “green” certification in LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) from the U. S. Green Building Council.
